Lorenzo Quinn y Carles Sans (Tricicle)
Éste es el título con el que el escultor Lorenzo Quinn dió nombre a su exposición en Ibiza que se inauguró el pasado lunes 3 de agosto en el Diario Club de Ibiza. Una muestra de 24 obras en bronce y aluminio, que por primera vez iban acompañadas de unas reproducciones de foto-esculturas en una base de plancha de aluminio. Una original iniciativa que combina la belleza de las obras de Quinn, junto con unas excepcionales fotografías, cosecha propia del artista, de algunos de los lugares más paradisiacos del planeta.
This is the title under which the sculptor Lorenzo Quinn named his exhibition in Ibiza which opened on Monday 3rd August in the Diario Club de Ibiza (Ibiza’s Journal Club). A sample of 24 works in bronze and aluminium, which were accompanied, for the first time, by some photo-sculpture reproductions which were placed in a base consisting of an aluminium plate. An original initiative that combines Lorenzo’s works beauty with some exceptional pictures, taken by the artist in some of the most heavenly places of the world.

Las esculturas de gran formato fueron instaladas en el Hotel Atzaró Agroturismo, dónde podemos encontrar 6 piezas, a destacar “Amor” en aluminio y de 2 metros de diámetro. En ambos sitios las esculturas estarán expuestas hasta el dia 28 de agosto.
The large sculptures were placed in the Hotel Atzaró Agroturismo, where we are able to find 6 works. It is worth highlighting “Love” created in aluminium and which measures 2 meters in diameter. In both places the sculptures will be on display until 28th August.

“Yo soy un escultor optimista. Me gusta reflejar en mis obras la luz al final del túnel, aunque traten sobre temas difíciles. Si tú eres una persona positiva, atraes todo lo positivo pero si eres negativo también acercas a ti toda la negatividad.” De ésta manera, Lorenzo, explicaba a los asistentes a la inauguración el porqué de la elección del título Optimismo.
“I am an optimistic sculptor. I like to show in my works the light at the end of the tunnel, even if they talk about complicated issues. If you are a positive person, you attract all the positive things but the same happens if you are negative, you attract all the negativity”. This way, Lorenzo, explained to all those attending the opening ceremony the reason of the exhibition’s title.

Entre los invitados se encontraban algunos de los amigos del artista, asíduos en la isla desde ya muchos veranos cómo Carles Sans del Tricicle; el tenista Emilio Sánchez Vicario; Carlos Tusquets, presidente de Fibanc; lord y lady Cowdray, propietarios del Financial Times; el doctor Antonio Tapia; la escritora uruguaya Carmen Posadas, Premio Planeta 1998, la que confesó su admiración por la delicada obra del escultor; Ben Clark, premio Hiperión de Poesia. Muchos de ellos se volvieron a encontrar un dia después de la multitudinaria fiesta de cumpleaños del promotor musical Pino Sagliocco.
Among the guests there were some of the artist’s friends, who are regulars on the island during summer time such as Carles Sans from the theatre group El Tricicle, the tennis player Emilio Sanchez Vicario, the Fibanc’s president Carlos Tusquets, the owners of the Financial Times Lord and Lady Cowdray, Dr. Antonio Tapia, the Uruguayan writer Carmen Posadas, who was awarded with the Planeta Prize 1998, and who confessed his admiration for the delicate work of the sculptor and Ben Clark, awarded with the Hyperion Poetry Prize. Many of them met again the day after in the massive birthday party of the musical promoter Pino Sagliocco.
Una enorme afluencia de invitados que quisieron admirar la obra de Lorenzo Quinn en la isla pitiusa de la mano de Rafart Gallery, galería única y exclusiva del artista que ha colaborado en ésta ocasión con el Diario Club de Ibiza y el Hotel Atzaró Agroturismo. Se trató de uno de los actos sociales más importanes del verano ibicenco, dónde los que no conocían con profundidad la obra del artista, quedaron admirados del valor moral que esconde en sus entrañas cada una de las piezas, la cual acompaña un texto dónde se narra su significado, se trata del alma de la obra. Incluso ese texto nace antes de la creación en cera de la escultura.
A large number of guests wanted to admire Lorenzo Quinn’s work at the island, which took place thanks to the support of Rafart Gallery, the one and only gallery of the artist, which this time has collaborated with El Diario Club de Ibiza and Hotel Atzaró Agroturismo. It was one of the most significant social events of Ibiza’s summer, where those who did not know in depth the artist’s work, were astonished by the moral value hidden in each piece, to which a text accompanies telling its meaning, these are the soul of the work. Even the text is born before the wax creation of the sculpture.
